Diamond Jaxx Defeat Chattanooga 4-1

West Tenn won their second straight game on Sunday afternoon as the Diamond Jaxx defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 4-1.

The Diamond Jaxx jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Lookouts losing pitcher Eddy Valdez (7-10) yielded three consecutive singles. Aron Weston's single drove in Richard Lewis to give the Diamond Jaxx a lead they would not relinquish. Valdez wound up allowing two runs on nine hits over six innings of work.

Lewis wound up with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored to pace the Diamond Jaxx attack. Weston had two RBI''s while Carlos Rojas chipped in had two hits to help the cause.

Thomas Atlee picked up the win in relief of starting pitcher Bobby Brownlie, who went the first four innings. Atlee (3-5) allowed a run on two hits over three innings of relief. Jerry Blevins picked up his first save in Double-A with two shutout innings of relief.

Joey Votto provided the Lookouts offense with his twenty-second home run of the season.

The 2006 Southern League season finale takes place on Monday afternoon at 1:05 CDT. Left-hander J.R. Mathes (9-8 3.40) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Chattanooga will counter with lefty Camilo Vazquez (3-4 3.99).
